Electronics: Digital Audio & Video I
Credit: 3-4 Elective Credits
Open to: Grades 11 and 12 Instructors: Jeff Renard and Zach McNaughton
Prerequisite: Computer Skills, Algebra I, Instructor Interview

This class covers all aspects of the theory and production of audio and video in Internet, media facilities, and recording studio settings. A wide variety of subjects are covered including basic electronic theory, studio maintenance, soldering, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, mixers, effect devices, acoustics, audio file formats in various conversions, MIDI, copyright issues, commercials, camera basics, lighting, and special effects. Students will be producing many recordings with the final project being a multiple track CD.
Students participate in synchronous activities for their first block of the school day, either in person or through Distance Education Network. In addition, students will also participate in one hour per day of asynchronous activities in an on-line format.

Credit: 1 embedded Science, 2-3 elective credits
Open to: Grade 12 Instructors: Jeff Renard and Zach McNaughton
Prerequisite: Electronics: Digital Audio & Video Production I
Scheduled: Full Year, Synchronous and asychronous: 1st afternoon Block.
Independant Online 1 Hour Per Day
Students will learn in-depth pre and post production techniques for recording, audio-for-video, and video applications. Topics include advanced MIDI applications, Foley Art, video synch formating, and multi-channel audio-for-video, 3D video animation, and advanced video production. Students will replace soundtracks of videos, create sound effects, and create various surround sound audio scenes. Students will participate in commontime activities for their first afternoon block, either in person or through the Distance Education Network. In addition, students also participate in one hour per day of Independent activities in an on-line format.
For both the I and II classes, it is strongly recommended that students have a home computer with internet access. This program is open to all students that meet the prerequisites regardless of their musical background.
Tourism & Lodging Manaagement I
Credit: 3 to 4 elective credits
Open to: Grades 11 and 12 (10 with permission)

Scheduled: Full year, Two hours per day
Have you ever thought about a career that pays you to travel? Do you like to learn about new destinations? Are you a party planner? If so the Tourism and Lodging Management Program provides you with an overview of exciting careers in the hospitality industry. You can pursue your interests through academic instruction, leadership projects, field trips and practical industry related experiences. This program introduces you to some of the technology present in today’s ever growing travel industry. Principles and techniques of personnel management, customer service, marketing and business operations are some of the areas we will focus on. This program offers strong business skills in addition to the travel and tourism component. You will learn the necessary analytical and technical communication skills that are needed to succeed in the hospitality industry. Business confidentiality, etiquette, interviewing strategies, conflict resolution / mediation and conversational / speaking skills will be included.
