FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How are River Valley Technical Center programs and classes different from the classes at my high school?
The River Valley Technical Center is committed to career and technical education; we provide learning opportunities that students can apply directly to their future education and careers. Hands-on learning is combined with classroom work. Activities vary from day to day but, generally, students spend half of the two-hour period on in-class work and the other half on hands-on activities. Our students use state-of-the-art equipment and work with teachers who are experts in their fields

How can a program fit into my school day?
RVTC helps students to meet graduation requirements by including academic credit into their program. While you’re here, you earn elective credits. You can take advantage of our Cooperative Learning Program to gain additional credit, along with valuable experience. Discuss your specific needs with your school guidance counselor or River Valley Technical Center guidance. More often than not, when there's a will, there's a way!

I'm planning to go to college after I graduate. Can I still take classes at the River Valley Technical Center?
YES!!! Many of our graduates go on to further education, and many of our programs are designed to prepare students to succeed in college level training. Through articulation agreements, some colleges accept and or give credit to students who complete a training program at RVTC.

How will I get to and from my River Valley Technical Center classes?

Why are River Valley Technical Center programs so long?

Why do I have to apply to take a River Valley Technical Center program?
Not every program will be a good match for every student. We want our students to be successful; therefore we take the time to consider a students interest and likelihood of success before accepting her or him into a program.

How will I know if the River Valley Technical Center is for me?
The best way to find out is to visit us. Tour the facility and talk to the students and teachers in the programs that interest you. Contact River Valley Technical Center Guidance or your Guidance Counselor to arrange a visit!
