At the River Valley Technical Center each student is provided with a comprehensive guidance program from their initial enrollment to post graduation. Career guidance, interest inventories, personal counseling and post graduation planning are examples of services provided by the Technical Center Guidance Department.

The following is a list of some of the student related activities that the River Valley Technical Center Guidance Department initiates in conjunction with guidance personnel at Green Mountain Union High School, Black River High School, Bellows Falls Union High School, Fall Mountain Regional High School, and Springfield High School:

• Sophomore class presentations regarding programming offerings at the River Valley Technical Center.
• Opportunities for students to get help with scholarships, financial aid planning, and college and career exploration / inventories.
• Participate in scheduling arenas at SHS, FMRHS, and BFUHS.
• Guidance Counselors act as Advisors to the National Technical Honor Society.
• Consultation and referral on drug and alcohol issues.
• Assist the Equity/Diversity Committee with class presentations and Center wide activities such as Trading Places Day.
• Provide a wide variety of counseling services to students enrolled in the Career Academies.
• Meet with all Technical Center senior students to review current career and postsecondary plans.
