When you want to do more than play games and blog on your computer, follow your interest down a career path. By learning how to build, repair, and upgrade your computer’s hardware and software, you’ll never be at the mercy of tech support. RVTC’s Hands On Computer Systems one-year course lives up to its name. You’ll be working in a state-of-the-art computer lab where you’ll gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be a real tech troubleshooter!

Program Highlights:

• Earn up to 8 college credits at Community College of Vermont

Certification: CompTIA A+

   
Hands On Computer Systems
Credit: 1 embedded math and 2-3 elective credits
Eligibility: Students in grades 11 and 12
Prerequisites: Keyboarding skills
Schedule: Full year; 2 hours per day

This one-year program provides in-depth study of computer components and operating systems. The combination of classroom discussion and hands-on activities, you’ll learn how to assemble and configure a computer, install operating systems and software, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems. We’ll also show you the suggested best practices for maintenance and safety. You’ll be working primarily on Windows equipment but we’ll give you some exposure to Macintosh and Linux systems as well. You will also have the opportunity to participate in SkillsUSA at the local, state, and national levels.
