Seniors who want to more thoroughly
develop their carpentry skills get extensive hands-on
practice in this specialized, full-year program. You’ll
work on more involved construction projects, including
a house that we build here in our massive workshop.
Program Highlights:
• Hands-on training with latest technology and equipment,
including pneumatic nail guns, circular saw, and a sliding
compound miter saw.
• Cooperative work placements and apprenticeships
are available.
• Gain leadership skills through the local Skills
USA-VICA Chapter.
• Take part in state and national activities and
competitions
• Participate in building a house to be auctioned
at the end of the year
FULL-DAY:
Senior Carpentry Credit: 1 embedded
English, 1 embedded math, and 4-5 elective credits Eligibility: Students
in grade 12 only Prerequisites: Successful
completion of Algebra I Schedule: Full year;
5 hours per day
Combine the skills from Carpentry I and II in one year
with this full-time program. You’ll explore the
theory and get practical experience with various construction
projects. Senior English will be included in your daily
schedule. With the local Skills USA chapter, you’ll
develop leadership skills and be encouraged to participate
in state and national activities.
